The new library of the Humanistic Sciences of the Universita’ degli Studi di Trento is located near the Adige river, at the end of Via Verdi, on the expansion axis of the nineteenth century city. The triangular system mixes two building elements which unfold towards the city like an open book. The reading halls face a large void which con- nects vertically the entire building. The large window links the interior hall to the the new public square located in front of it. The cladding relies solely on the local stones, cut and carved in the surrounding mountaing quarries.
